The Short Version

Your voice never leaves your device. Speech Summary processes all audio locally on your Mac using Apple's on-device Speech Recognition and Apple Intelligence. We have no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no way to access your recordings.

What We Collect

Nothing.

Speech Summary does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. There are no user accounts. There is no cloud sync. There are no analytics or tracking pixels. We don't know who you are, what you record, or how you use the app.

How the App Works

When you record or import audio:

  • Audio processing happens entirely on your Mac using Apple's on-device Speech Recognition framework. No audio is sent to any server—Apple's or ours.
  • AI summarization uses Apple Intelligence (FoundationModels), which also runs locally on your device. Your transcripts are never uploaded.
  • All data—recordings, transcripts, and summaries—is stored in the app's local container on your Mac. Only you have access.

Network Connections

Speech Summary makes zero network requests during normal operation. The app functions fully offline. The only potential network activity is:

  • App Store — Apple may verify your purchase through the App Store (handled by macOS, not by us).
  • macOS Updates — Apple may download Speech Recognition or Apple Intelligence model updates as part of system updates.

We have no servers. We cannot receive your data even if we wanted to.

Third-Party Services

We use no third-party services. No analytics (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude). No crash reporting services. No advertising SDKs. No external APIs.

Data Storage & Security

Your recordings and notes are stored in the app's sandboxed container on your Mac. This means:

  • Other apps cannot access Speech Summary's data
  • Your data is protected by macOS security and your Mac's encryption (FileVault)
  • Deleting the app removes all associated data

We recommend enabling FileVault on your Mac for additional protection of all your local data.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect any data, traditional data rights (access, deletion, portability) don't apply in the usual sense. However:

  • Access — All your data is already on your Mac. You have complete access.
  • Deletion — Delete recordings within the app, or uninstall to remove everything.
  • Portability — Export your transcripts and summaries as text files anytime.

Children's Privacy

Speech Summary does not collect data from anyone, including children. The app is suitable for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Given our architecture (no servers, no data collection), significant changes are unlikely.
